Paper HeartI find myself tying strings around my paper heart,Paper Heart
making the knots tight in hopes that it won't fall apart.
I picture this heart of origami with twists and turns
made of white paper and rough edges

of pain, of shame, of feeling that I was the one to blame.
Years I spent in your shadow because I was afraid.
I didn’t need you to tell me where we were going,
I knew we would eventually fade,
